Du to the various spin-offs from the "Additional information" thread I have decided to make a new thread so that that one can stay more on topic and so that hopefully Jason Pensa will be able to follow it also other people might not be quite as excluded from that thread.
So for all sorts of science, technical and mechanical stuff that is just cool, here is that place for it!
note:this is not for science fiction

A question for Physics students:
Why does a cracker that has cheese or any other kind of spread on it always fall face down so that it makes a bigger mess?

Finally, a question for computer students: Well those are some tough ones, that’s for sure. Well let's start at the top: I after much deliberation have decided that that the answer to the question why a brown cow can produce white milk is found in that nature of light and more specifically the varying wave lengths. Now we all now that what we see as color is merely the reflected light. Now the color white is made up of all colors including brown! So really what is happening is that the cow is putting all the colors around it into the milk and so then it turns out white! Now your second question is easy you only need a fundamental understanding of Murphy’s Law to get that one. Murphy’s Law states something to the effect that any thing specifically food that has one end that it is held by, will when dropped land with the held side up. This is in reality what Murphy’s Law says but there could be exceptions. The equation for this Law is A=TC^2. “A” is the dropping weigh or momentum weight relative to the other side (the one that you hold whatever it is you’re dropping from) “T” is the actual weight of the top and “C^2” is the speed of light through the substance which the cracker ,ice cream cone, etc. is dropped. Now you just figure that out and whichever side is heavier the “A” or the side that you hold the cracker ,ice cream cone, etc. from is heavier will land that side down. Since the speed of light is so great however it is in all but the most extreme cases going to land topside down, that or it will land bottom side up. |

In people's opinions, is it possible to have a coin-growing machine if it is possible ot have a coin-shrinker?  It would use the same principle of mass distribution! |

Oh wait, it is possible!
You just stick it on the railroad tracks and let a SD70M pass by!
It would now have a larger diameter, and it would be thinner.
The coin shrinking machine has a smaller diameter, but a thicker coin.

well I have good news to report my tesla coil is finally tuned up properly! ;D Last Saturday I talked my dad into, at the risk of going berserk, getting it out fiddleing around with the frequency generators and all that stuff to tune it. The end result? Lightning bolts! Maybe 5in! and also it knocked out our phone/intercom system thing! It was pretty cool! so now my dad wont run it in the house any more  |

My dad's offiice used to give out Tesla balls as promotional items!
When they closed down, I tryed to get my dad to take all of them, but nooo......

When they closed down, I tryed to get my dad to take all of them, but nooo...... do you mean plasma balls? if so you cam make them if you have a tesla coil. all you do is put a the right kind of incadesant(sp?) bulb on one end of the secondary and ground the other end and you'll get sort of a plasma ball effect, but it won't be quite as nice as the real ones because the real ones have special gasses inside. |

Well I don't now that much about the circuit in plasma balls so I couldn't say for sure. It would probably be easier to just build a tesla coil (hereafter abbreviated "TC") here is where I found out about the light bulb thing: tacashi.tripod.com/elctrncs/splglobe/splglobe.htm on that site is about all I know about plasma balls. Probably any TC stuff is "do not attemt at home" because it is produsing thousands of volts that can be very deadly. |

What came first, the chicken, or the egg?
