I have decided that the time has come for me to get a drivers permit and learn how to drive.
I am of the understanding (or have been misinformed) that several of our members of the great club CHARGE have Driver's Licences. I also have funny stories about CHARGE members who I thought had Driver's Licenses.
So, what kind of method is used to learn to drive and how does one go about legally (or illegally) obtaining a drivers permit?

Ha!
At the begining of the year there was one time that a bunch of us went out... that is when I discovered that Melissa and I were the only members of chicago charge that had our licenses. Wow. Finally... some of you started to catch on. Yes, driving is fun. and driving helps you get away from home *gasp* did I just say that? I meant... it helps you go shopping when your mom needs you to leave the house to do so :-P
David, to get your permit you have to by 15 years of age. You have to take a permit test (i think) to get your permit if you're not taking drivers ed. I don't know how it all works because I just took drivers ed... drove with my permit... turned 16... got my license.
But... a note to all. Drinking coffee and driving is ok. It's researching and driving... that's what is dangerous -benjy

So, what kind of method is used to learn to drive and how does one go about legally (or illegally) obtaining a drivers permit? I took Drivers Ed at Drive One in Wheaton (I don’t know the number off hand). I learned almost nothing in class that I didn’t already know, but the movies they showed were funny to see some times. Most of what I learned came from actually driving with the instructor and then driving with my parents. The driving test to get a license is really easy too (at least it was when I took it). I really enjoy driving and I think you probably would too. At the begining of the year there was one time that a bunch of us went out... that is when I discovered that Melissa and I were the only members of chicago charge that had our licenses. Wow. That is surprising.

Does it mean cheaper insurance?

Also, I think if you don't have Driver's Ed you can't get your license until you're 18. At least that's what I was given to understand. I'd say that Driver's Ed is a good idea if you don't want to wait until you're 18 to drive.

DSL is great! ;D ;D ;D
BOT, Although with the price of Gas these days, sometimes I don't want a license (all the more reason we need to become less dependent!)

I'm pretty sure that in September (my birthday when I'll be old enough) I will get a permit!
reducing dependence on foreign oil won't necessarily lower gas prices.

reducing dependence on foreign oil won't necessarily lower gas prices. LOL, you're a debater already! I suppose you could say that substituting oil altogether will give lower prices, however Ethanol is quite a bit more expensive to begin with1 You ought to start posting in the debate boards!

Well with this whole debate res the point it’s to lower prices its to reduce dependants on foreign oil, which could very possibly raise prices!
I would post more on the debate boards if I had something to say, I googled hybrid cars a hydrogen fuel cells, I now have an idea of how they work but have no idea whether that would be useful in a debate round.
note the mention of cars to make this post not totally off topic

David... some of us.... **cough** have parents that made us wait to learn how to drive. If you're not interested in taking driver's ed, or your parents don't want to pay for it (like mine), you'll have to wait 3 months before your 18th birthday to get your driver's permit. To get your driver's permit, you must take the written test and pay $10. After your parents have taught you how to drive, you can go take the road test and get your license. Which... I now have. I NOW HAVE MY DRIVER'S LICENSE!! ;D YEAH!! His Servant, Jason

Umm... you mean the point is not to lower prices, in which you would be correct. [ontopicness]Uhh... I want to learn to drive... sometime. There, I posted something kind of on-topic. [/ontopicness]
