:-/s, :(s and , we are now in that season some people call "summer." It is now almost the middle of June. I am now asking myself, what makes summer summer? What makes it better than the rest of the year? What do you think of summer, and what are you planning to do? What must I do to make summer summer? This year, I want a real summer, not just wasting time. What do you do in summer? Isn't it a weird word? Think about it: sum[/i]: A bit of Money. me:[/i] Myself r:[/i] The short way of stating the Status Quo (how things are). So, that means that in summer: I (me) make money for myself, and that is the way things are. I guess it makes cents, being the time where many teens get jobs! Back to my first question, what makes summer something other than just any other season?

I have the most horrible job in the history of the United States. 8-HOUR DAYS!! In an office!!!!!! *runs around screaming* I HATE offices!!! And paper, paper, paper everywhere, can't escape... and just to make things better, I get paid MINUMUM WAGE. Summer jobs are brutal, and should be banned.

you should get a job mowing lawns. it's got to be the best I rack in around $25 per job and that is about 1.5 hours. I'ts great, not having a real job but still getting payed.
I think what makes summers summers is that you don't always have to be doing somthing productive!

Perhaps I need to get more lawns, because I still would like more to do (and more money!)

HORROR OF HORRORS!After thinking that all my schoolwork was for the most part done, my very mean parents decided that I needed MORE schoolwork! So, they got my on this cruel program which I have to write Essays (sp?) throughout the ENTIRE SUMMER! TWICE a month! I'm like, "You know, I could get 18 pages of evidence in the time it will take!" Waah, Waah, Waah, Waah, Waah, Waah, Waah, Waah, Waah, Waah, Waah, Waah,

This year, I want a real summer, not just wasting time. I don't believe I've ever had that problem. What do you do in summer? Schoolwork. Ooh, and... uhh... schoolwork. Yeah, that makes up the bulk of my summer. I am now asking myself, what makes summer summer? What makes it better than the rest of the year? NOTHING makes it better than the rest of the year. It is, quite possibly, my least favorite season. [/i]: A bit of Money. me:[/i] Myself r:[/i] The short way of stating the Status Quo (how things are).[/quote] Clever. After thinking that all my schoolwork was for the most part done, my very mean parents decided that I needed MORE schoolwork! Join the club. Although I must admit... my schoolwork was self-inflicted, rather than parent-inflicted.

I don’t really have a job this summer. I do work here and there, but nothing steady. I am doing some school. I’m doing some math that seems to never end and also some independent studies. I really like independent studies because I get to study what I’m interested in so long as my mom can put it on my transcript. Right now I’m doing Old English Literature.

NOTHING makes it better than the rest of the year. It is, quite possibly, my least favorite season. Excellently put. I totally agree with you. It's just like the rest of the year PLUS mosquitos. I’m doing some math that seems to never end *weeps* Me too. And a US gov. course and a Great Books course (my mom: "Oh dear, you should have started with the Odessy in 9th grade and by now you should be on Mein Kampf! Oh well, you'll just have to cram it all into one year...and don't forget, you have to write an essay on each book after you're done.") And an hour of piano a day (BACH IS HARD.). Plus my job which has now been upgraded to 24 hours a week (although I'm thinking of revolting against that...).

Summer is having devotions twice a day. Not thinking about school. ;D Studing russian and having time for violin. Atempting to stay faithful to an exercise program . Investing in friendships. Reading. IDT (Intense Disciple Trianing) my youth group, with awesome guest speakers, great small group discussions, and awesome reading material-- The Great Divorce, Screwtape Letters, and Mere Christainity all by CS Lewis. On another note, my summer will also include preparing for my 3 li'l sibs to come home . Lately I feel like I'm doing more work than my mom. In the begining she was constanly reminding me that she was the one actually adopting, but now it feels like she expects me to be a "mini-mom". I can't wait for school to start at COD this fall.

This summer my school which normally ends with all the other school kids is going to still be going in July...so right now my summer isn't terribly different other than i stay up late every night and sleep in late and my school feels less intensified... I have a computer job in my neighborhood...of course maybe some people expected that I'm going a few places later this summer like a gaming convention and the outer banks though and that will be when fun really begins...at the end of June

What I've wondered is how on earth do you get office jobs? Mowing jobs are easy but if you tried for the secretarial line in the same way, you'd get some pretty odd looks

I define summer as the baseball season- April through October. Unfortunately, my parents don't schedule our school in accordance with that definition.
