Dear Editor
Quite recently a seminary was given a large government grant to find similarities between Christianity and Islam, this done in order to ease tensions. I believe they will not find anything other than liberalized over-simplifications. There are some major differences between the two, and they were brought out after the earthquake in Bam, Iran.
After the hated Nine-Eleven attacks there was dancing in the streets of Iran, Iraq, and other Islamic countries. When disaster falls upon their enemies, the "Christian Nations," the result is jubilation. When thousands of innocent Americans are killed in one swoop, joy abounds. Yet when a national catastrophe falls on Iran, the same Christian Nation is the first to rush huge quantities of aid to help "the enemies". When tragedy befalls the same people that would dance and spit on America's grave, the United States gives aid, freely.
Truly there is a difference, Love. Paul says three things remain, faith hope and love, but the greatest of these is love. I pray that this witness given by the United States will lodge itself in the minds of the Islamic peoples, and that God would use this as His tool, His sign pointing to Jesus.
Proverbs 25:21 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: for thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
May God continue to bless this land.

That is a very interesting observation. It is also interesting how even when many Christian ideals have largely been forgotten in America a few (like compassion) linger on.

You're right Race. There are not very many similarities between Islam and Christianity. Two major differences I have observed are:
1)The attitudes toward people of other faiths. While Christians are comanded to go into the world preaching the gospel and making believers of the nations, the Koran tells its followers to " Destroy the infidels " (Christians, Jews, ect.) and there will be many rewards for you in heaven.
2)The view of Jesus Christ Christians, of course, believe Jesus is the son of God while Muslims believe that he was merely a prophet.
There probably some minor similarities between Islam and Christianity (such as a few moral beliefs) but the differences certainly outweigh them.
