How about baseball fanatic? Thank you, that's much better. "Fan" is short for fanatic anyway.

QUESTION:
ARE THERE ANY OTHER CUBS FANS IN THIS CLUB??!!??!!
If there are, would you please identify yourselves?
Oh yes, and another thing. If you are NOT a baseball fan can I have your all-star game votes? (You are allowed to vote online up to 25 times.) This is a serious question!

This is a serious question! For which I am probably incapable of giving a serious answer.

Not probably, you are incapable of giving a serious answer.

Cubs fans:
What do you think of the recent suspensions of Carlos Zambrano and LaTroy Hawkins? Do you think Carlos and LaTroy overreacted to the situation at hand? Was Carlos intentionally trying to hit Edmonds? Did LaTroy really think that arguing balls and strikes was going to give him anything? Tell me your thoughts please.

I probably would say that it was right to suspend them. Violence should never be tolerated in baseball!

Oh, and what's your opinion of last year's fowl ball that was caught by that person? I guess it probably didn't make too much difference! I also was at debate when it happened

He was, in all honesty, acting like a two-year-old. Arguing wouldn't of done him any good at any rate. Carlos, on the other hand- I don't think he deserved it. I doubt if he hit Edmonds on purpose- he seems, unlike some, to have a reasonable amount of self-control. Like last year when he should of had that no-hitter, but the ump made a bad call, he didn't go screaming at the ump and get suspended- a lot of guys would've.

Oh my gosh, David, I've heard so much about that foul ball it has to be one of the most talked-about call in the history of baseball. I'm sorry, the guy caught it in fair territory. The replays showed it, the ump agreed, and Alou admitted it afterwards. I don't see how anyone who saw the replays and saw Alou's glove go into the stands could say that was fan interference. I personally saw Carlos hit Edmonds on the hip, intentional or not. From my point of view, it did look like he might have been trying to hit Edmonds. Carlos said in a statement afterwards that he wasn't, but Michael Barret said that he thought it was intentional. It could have been from the home run Edmonds hit before. I think that next to the Yankees and Red Sox, the Cubs and Cardinals are the biggest rivalry in baseball. How 'bout you? LaTroy I did not see but I read about it. I've never understood why they argue those calls, because ejection is the only thing you risk. My dad always says, "I wonder if there was ever a case in baseball where the guy argued balls and strikes and the ump said, 'OH, you're right, I'm sorry.'" Nothing is gained, you just show you can be childish at times. It's my understanding that arguing actually gets to be addicting to the umps, because they know no one can prove them wrong; it's like doing a debate round and facing a team that doesn't have any evidence.

Nothing is gainedquote] The Cubs and Cards are definitely the BEST rivalry in baseball. One of our players who used to play for the Red Sox said so. He said the Yankees and Red Sox get into more fights. I totally agree with you about the arguing balls and strikes thing. It's just dumb. Arguing fair or foul is all right, but...

What's your opinion of this new player trade on the Cubs?
I guess it's OK, but I still wish it hadn't happened, it makes everything more confusing!

Makes thing more confusing? I find it interesting. Either that or I just have to debate everything you say. In regards to the trade, excuse me if I say, HOLY COW! The Cubs got Garaciaparra? How could that happen? Now the Cubs will be better than ever (that's good, right?) And how could the White Sox lose Esteban Loaiza? True, they did get Jose Contreras, but Loaiza was like a White Sox brand name. I fell sorry for Alex Gonzalez going over to the Expos, they sure are bad. However, the only problem with the Expos is that they have bad pitching. Their hitters can get runs, but their bullpen gives the runs right back. Get some good pitchers and I think the Expos could have the recipe to success. I'd say out of that four-team deal (Cubs, Twins, Expos, Red Sox) the Twins got the worst of it (yes!). But I suppose David is right about this trade thing; it sure is weird when the players start flying like confetti thrown to the wind. (bad analogy, oh well) I totally agree with you about the arguing balls and strikes thing. It's just dumb. Arguing fair or foul is all right, but... Pardon my curiosity...but what? "Arguing fair or foul is all right but..." they shouldn't do it too much?
